Psychoanalysis is a form of therapy that is devoted to uncovering the unconscious forces that shape how we think, feel, and act. Rather than focusing on symptom relief or directing thoughts or behaviors, we work with the patterns underneath, the history behind them, the dreams, and the quiet beliefs that are hardest to say. Psychoanalysis has a simple premise: understanding yourself at that level actually allows something to shift.
Both psychoanalytic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis draw on the same tradition and the same underlying principles. The difference is one of depth and intensity.
I offer both once-weekly psychoanalytic psychotherapy and more intensive psychoanalytic treatment at two-three or more times per week. The more frequent work has its roots deep in the psychoanalytic tradition. It is not simply “more of the same,” it is a different kind of experience. Meeting with greater frequency creates a particular kind of depth as well as continuity; it allows something to accumulate, to deepen, to become. If you are drawn to this kind of immersive engagement with your own inner life, it may be worth considering.

I am not looking to work with a particular kind of person. I am looking for the right fit, or for people for whom this kind of work will be generative. The most important question is not whether you have the “right” problems. It is whether we will work well together. This is why I offer a free initial consultation, a chance to ask questions, or simply to talk and see how it feels.

My approach is relational and collaborative. I am not a neutral observer. I am present, engaged, and attentive to what is happening between us as much as what is happening for you. I am interested in how you experience me, what you find yourself able to say or unable to say, as this is often where the most important information lives.

I work on a sliding scale basis and I want anyone who feels drawn to this work to reach out. I am happy to discuss what is possible for us.
I do not participate in any insurance networks, though I can provide monthly superbills for potential out-of-network reimbursement.
